Zoom! Cars That Don't Drink Gas!

Hi! My name is Jerome and I’m seven! My daddy showed me a cool thing – cars that run on electricity! They’s called electric vehicles, or EVs for short. They's getting really popular now!

Why Are They Zooming Up?

Daddy says regular cars, the ones that drink gas, make yucky smoke that makes the air not so good. Electric cars don't do that! They’s super quiet too! Vroom! But not loud like a race car. More like whirr.

Also, gas is getting expensive! Daddy says it costs a lot to fill up the tank. Electric cars charge with electricity, and sometimes that can be cheaper. It's like charging my tablet!

How Do They Work?

I don't know all the grown-up science, but Daddy says they have big batteries like my toy cars! The batteries store the electricity and then the car goes! You plug them into a special place to charge them, kind of like plugging in a lamp.

What Does It Mean for Us?

Daddy says that because more people are getting electric cars, it means less yucky smoke in the air! That’s good for the animals and for us!

He also says it’s changing how people make cars. Lots of car companies are making electric cars now!

But… Daddy also says there's stuff to figure out. Like, where do we get all the electricity? And what do we do with the old batteries? That's for the grown-ups to think about.

Cool Electric Cars!

I saw a picture of a truck that runs on electricity! It's HUGE! And some electric cars look like spaceships! I hope I get to ride in one someday!

It’s a really exciting time for cars! Maybe one day all cars will be electric! Then the air will be cleaner and we can all breathe better. Yay!
