Metaverse: BIG! But Needs More Fun!

Hi everybody! I’s Jerome! Today we’s talkin’ ‘bout the Metaverse! My dad says it’s gonna be bigger than the phone! He says it’s like… a whole other internet you can go into! Super cool! But, he also says there’s some tricky stuff too. Let me ‘splain!

What Is the Metaverse?

The Metaverse is like a giant playground where you can play games, shop, and even hang out with your friends! It’s gonna be HUGE! People think it’s gonna make LOTS of money – like, almost eight-hundred billion dollars by 2026! Wowzers! You need special goggles (they’s called VR and AR) to play in it, but maybe one day you’s just use your phone!

The Fun Stuff! (Opportunities!)

• Playing Games! Imagine playing your favorite game inside the game! That's the Metaverse!
• Shopping! You can try on clothes and look at toys without even going to the store! Neat!
• Hanging Out! See your friends even if they’s far away! You can build houses together and have pizza parties!
• Doctors Can Help You! My dad says doctors can even make pretend-y versions of your body to practice! Like, a pretend leg or arm! That’s for learning!

The Tricky Parts! (Challenges!)

But… it’s not all sunshine and lollipops. There’s some hard parts too.

• No Sharing! Right now, all the Metaverse playgrounds are different. You can’t take your toys from one playground to another! That's like having a sandbox but you can't bring your bucket over! The early internet had a way to share everything, and the Metaverse needs that too!
• Goggles Are Hard! The goggles are kinda expensive and tricky to use. My dad says it needs to be easier for everyone to play!
• What to Do? Right now, it’s hard to find good stuff to do in the Metaverse. Like, what’s the fun game to play? Companies need to make games and shops and things that are super fun!
• Money for Companies! Grown-ups need to make money too! Companies need to figure out how to make the Metaverse fun AND help them get money. It's a tricky puzzle!

What Now?

My dad says companies need to try new things and see what works! It’s okay to mess up! It’s okay to learn! Maybe you’s gonna build the next big Metaverse playground!
