Shred the Powder: Ape News Presents the Top Ten Snowboarding Tricks!
By H.R. Rambe, Ape News Correspondent
Greetings, fellow primates! H.R. Rambe here, bringing you the latest from the slopes! Winter is upon us, and that means it’s time to ditch the bananas (for a little while, anyway) and hit the powder! But simply going down the mountain isn’t enough. You need style, you need flair, and you need…TRICKS!
Here at Ape News, we’ve compiled a list of ten must-try snowboarding maneuvers, ranging from beginner-friendly to seriously advanced. Whether you're a fresh-faced newbie or a seasoned pro, there's something here to get your adrenaline pumping!
Let’s start at the very beginning. Every great snowboarder starts with the Basic Ollie. Think of it as the jumping jack of the slopes – a fundamental pop to get your board off the ground. Master this, and you’re on your way! Next, try a Frontside 180 – a simple but satisfying spin that’ll have you rotating forward with increasing confidence.
Feeling a bit more adventurous? Time to head to the park! The Backside Boardslide is a classic – sliding along a rail with the base of your board. Once you’ve got that down, start reaching for the air! The Nose Grab and Tail Grab are fantastic ways to add style to your jumps – just reach down and grab the respective end of your board mid-air! For a more complex grab, the Method Grab looks particularly impressive – extending that front leg really makes it pop.
Now we’re entering expert territory. The Backflip is exactly what it sounds like – a full 360-degree rotation backwards. Commit to it, and you'll be rewarded with a rush like no other. The 540 Spin takes things even further, spinning a full 540 degrees.
For the truly daring, the Frontside Rodeo combines a frontside spin with a backflip. It’s a challenging combo that requires serious skill. And finally, for those who want to push their carving abilities to the limit, there's Eurocarving. This involves carving at incredibly steep angles – 60 to 80 degrees – demanding precision and control.
So there you have it! Ten tricks to elevate your snowboarding game. Remember to start small, practice safely, and always respect the mountain. Now go out there and shred! This is H.R. Rambe, signing off for Ape News!
