Fortnite Back on iPhones! And Other Stirrings in the Gaming World

Well, folks, it's a topsy-turvy world we live in, isn't it? Just when you think you’ve seen it all, the lawyers get involved. I mean, really, lawyers! But I digress. The biggest news rocking the digital landscape this week? Fortnite is back on iPhones! Yes, after nearly five years of being locked out thanks to some legal wrangling—and let’s be honest, an overzealous pursuit of exclusivity—the popular battle royale is once again available on Apple devices. It’s a victory for the people, I suppose. Though I still believe in the principle of a good, solid agreement, even if it means a little… inconvenience.
Beyond that rather unexpected development, things are bubbling in the gaming world. Our friends at GameSpot are reporting tantalizing whispers about the next Nintendo console, which is apparently being called the "Switch 2." It seems they’re using Samsung chips for this next iteration. Now, I'm no engineer, but that sounds… modern. One hopes they haven't sacrificed simplicity and reliability in the name of, well, whatever the young people are chasing these days. Speaking of Nintendo, a new Hyrule Warriors game is on the horizon, promising a deep dive into the lore of The Legend of Zelda. Sounds promising, as long as they remember the gameplay is supposed to be fun. Too much lore can be a real drag, I tell you.
And speaking of games, the folks at GameSpot also let slip that development on Grand Theft Auto 6 is progressing smoothly. No more delays, apparently! About time. These youngsters need to understand the value of a commitment.
There's also news about a new Xbox controller being developed by Nacon. Apparently, it’s got some fancy features. I'll leave that for the technical folks to decipher.
Finally, it's the anniversary of Red Dead Redemption. A fine game, that. A real throwback to a simpler time. Now that was a game that understood the importance of a good story and solid character development.
It's a busy time in the gaming world, folks. Let’s hope these developments lead to good things – good games, reliable hardware, and a respect for the values that made gaming great in the first place.
