MOM’S OFFICE WAS WILD BUT NOW ITS GOOD!

My Home Office is a MESS! (But Not For Long!) - By Jerome Skinly

Hi! I'm Jerome and I'm seven. My mom works from home, and her office is… well, it's a lot. Like, a really lot. Papers everywhere! Pens rolling on the floor! It looked like a tornado went through a stationery store. She said she needed help, so I’m gonna tell you how we fixed it. It was kinda fun!

First, she said we need to think UP! Like, use the walls. She got these things called shelves and put them all the way up high. They’re like towers for stuff! We put boxes on them, but not just any boxes. Pretty boxes! And some shelves were open, so you could still see cool stuff.

Then, the desk. Oh boy, the desk! It was covered in everything. She said a messy desk means a messy brain. That makes sense, right? So we took EVERYTHING off. Then we put back only the stuff she really needed. She has a tiny desk, so we got these little baskets that hang under it. They're for pens and paperclips and stuff that rolls away. She also got a table on wheels for her computer so she can move it around!

Papers are the worst. She has SO MANY papers. She’s trying to scan them with a special machine and keep them on the computer instead. Like a digital pile! But for the papers she has to keep, she got folders. Lots and lots of folders. And she colored them! Red for important, blue for… I don’t know, blue stuff? She labeled everything with a special label maker. It's like magic!

We also made a cozy corner with a comfy chair and books! My mom said it's to help her think of good ideas. It's like a secret thinking spot.

She even got a big board that you can write on. It’s not for drawing (even though I asked) it’s for writing down what she needs to do. So she doesn’t use sticky notes! Sticky notes are okay, but they fall off.

She said it’s important to have stuff that makes you happy in your office. Like pictures and cool art. And to use things that do TWO jobs! Like a chair that you can put stuff inside!

Now her office isn't messy anymore! It's still an office, but it's a happy, organized office. And I helped! I think even I could work in there now. Maybe. If she lets me use the label maker.
