Cars That Zoom Quiet! A Story About Electric Cars! By Jerome Skinly!

Hi everybody! My name is Jerome and I’m seven! I learned a really cool thing at school about cars! They used to be ELECTRIC! Like, a long, long time ago!

My teacher, Miss Patty, said that a lot of cars were electric back in the 1800s! That’s before my grandpa was even born! They were popular! People liked them because they were quiet. Zzzzz! Not like those loud, rumbling gasoline cars. And they were easy to drive, too!

One car, called the Electrobat, was super special! It was made in 1894! That’s even older than my grandma!

But then, something happened. A man named Ford made a car called the Model T. It was cheaper than the electric cars, so lots of people bought it. Also, gas got cheaper, so people wanted gas cars more! The electric cars went to sleep for a long time.

But guess what?! Electric cars are waking up again! Because of something called the oil crisis, people started to think about other ways to make cars go. It's like needing to find a new kind of yummy candy!

Now, there are new electric cars! Like the Tesla and the Nissan Leaf! And they’re getting better and better. They go “whirr!” not “vroom!” and they’s good for the planet!

Miss Patty said that electric cars are good because they don’t make yucky smoke! And the batteries are getting cheaper, so more people can get them!

I want an electric car when I’m big! It will be super cool and quiet! Maybe it will even have robot helpers!

The End!
