Rainy Day Seems to Be Happening, Everyone Should Probably Be Careful

A Wet Wednesday in Grand Rapids

Well, folks, it’s certainly a… weather day here in Grand Rapids. I stepped outside earlier and, honestly, immediately regretted my clothing choices. It’s one of those days.

The weather reports are saying we've got a pretty high chance of rain – like, a 70% chance this afternoon – and they aren't kidding. It started with just a drizzle, but now I’m hearing reports of some pretty good downpours, and even talk of thunderstorms. I saw a flash of lightning a little while ago, though I was safely inside, thank you very much.

It’s not terribly cold, thankfully. The temperature is hovering around 67 degrees, which is…pleasant, I guess, if you don’t mind being soaked. There’s a pretty strong wind blowing too, about 14 miles per hour, with gusts up to 26. It’s really whipping the rain around. I almost lost my umbrella!

And it doesn’t look like it’s letting up anytime soon. The forecast says we can expect showers and thunderstorms to continue well into the night. They’re predicting a low of around 48 degrees, with winds staying strong – maybe up to 38 miles per hour. Another quarter to half an inch of rain is expected, so… yeah. Definitely a good day to stay indoors with a warm drink.

Honestly, it's a bit much, isn't it? I just hope everyone stays safe and dry. Maybe we can all agree that spring is taking its sweet time arriving this year. I, for one, will be avoiding going outside unless absolutely necessary. Just… please be careful out there, everyone.
