A Most Troublesome Misplacement – By H.R. Rambe, Ape News
The indignity of it! Absolutely the indignity! This reporter, H.R. Rambe, finds himself in a most frustrating predicament. I have…misplaced my keys.
It began innocently enough. A brisk morning stroll – necessary for maintaining peak cognitive function, you understand – followed by a delightful breakfast of ripe mango and precisely portioned nuts. I locked the door to my dwelling, a perfectly sensible thing to do, and proceeded with my duties as a valued correspondent for Ape News.
Now, hours later, returning to complete a vital report on the burgeoning banana futures market, I discover…no keys.
I’ve retraced my steps. I’ve scrutinized the lush foliage bordering my pathway. I’ve even – and this pains me to admit – patted down my fur. Nothing. Utterly, completely, gone.
The initial assumption, naturally, was a simple oversight. They must be in a pocket. They must be nestled amongst the research papers I carried. They are not.
A thorough search of my living space revealed no sign of the metallic culprits. Under the cushions? Negative. Beneath the meticulously arranged collection of polished stones? Negative. Even a daring foray behind the portrait of my great-great-grandfather, Bartholomew Rambe (a renowned coconut connoisseur) yielded no results.
This is more than a mere inconvenience. This is a challenge to my very organizational skills! A reporter for Ape News cannot be hampered by such pedestrian problems.
I suspect foul play. Perhaps a mischievous monkey? A disgruntled fruit bat? Or, dare I say, a rival journalist attempting to sabotage my investigation into the suspiciously low price of plantains?
The investigation continues. I will update Ape News readers as soon as these vital keys are recovered. Until then, I am forced to contemplate the unsettling possibility that I may be locked out of my own home, a situation quite unbecoming of a primate of my stature.
