A Sad Discovery at the Q-Mart

It’s with a heavy heart that I report a truly disturbing incident here in Columbia. On April 11th, police responded to a call at the Q-Mart convenience store, and sadly, discovered the body of a woman inside a garbage bin behind the building.

Details are still emerging, and the Columbia Police Department is currently investigating. They are, thankfully, questioning a person of interest who they believe may have information regarding the woman's death. It's all very upsetting, of course.

This news is particularly troubling when considered alongside another recent case. Just a few months ago, in January, a similar tragedy occurred in Macomb County. A woman was found deceased behind a trash bin there, and her sister has spoken publicly, stating she believes her sibling was violently attacked before being discarded. The details are… well, they’re just awful. The sister said she was “beat to death and throw[n] her in the trash like she was garbage,” and it’s hard to even write that, honestly.

Both investigations are ongoing, and we here at Jape News will continue to follow the stories and report any updates as they become available. It’s a grim reminder that even in our own community, tragedy can strike, and our thoughts are with the families and friends affected by these heartbreaking losses.
