Uh Oh! The World's Money is Getting Sick!

Hi! I'm Jerome Skinly and I write for Jape News! My teacher, Mrs. Gable, says it’s important to learn about stuff, even if it's kinda scary. And this is kinda scary.

So, grown-ups are saying the world is getting warmer. Like, REALLY warmer. And it’s not just about needing less jackets. It's making the money sick!

See, when the world gets warmer, bad stuff happens. Big storms! Lots of rain and floods! And some places get SUPER dry. Like, no water for farms! My mom says if farms don't grow food, things get expensive. And if things get expensive, people can’t buy stuff! That makes stores sad, and then everyone gets a little bit poorer.

Mrs. Gable told me it could make all the money in the world go down by, like, 12%! That's a LOT! It's like if you had ten cookies, and then three disappeared. That would be a sad day.

And it’s not just the storms. Hot days make it hard for people to work. Imagine trying to build a LEGO castle when you’re REALLY sweaty! It’s hard, right? And if people can't work, they don't get paid.

They found out this is REALLY bad by looking at how the world did when it got a little warmer naturally. Not because of cars, but just because sometimes the world gets warmer on its own. They saw that when it got warmer, the money got sadder.

Some grown-ups are trying to fix it! They want to stop making so much “carbon.” Carbon is like… the stuff that comes out of cars and factories. It makes the world warmer. If we stop making so much, maybe the world won’t get too warm.

It's kinda cool that even if just one country tries to stop making carbon, it can help! Like, if the United States stops, it could make things a little better, even if other countries don’t.

Mrs. Gable says it costs money to stop making carbon. But she also says it costs way more money if we don't! It's like paying for a doctor to fix a little boo-boo now, or having to go to the hospital for a REALLY big ouchie later.

So, the world's money is getting sick, and we need to help it get better! We need to stop making so much stuff that warms up the world. It's a big job, but it's important! And maybe, just maybe, we can save the cookies!
