A Pleasant Day in Grand Rapids, But Warmth Elsewhere Brings Concerns

Grand Rapids, MI – It’s a beautiful day here in Grand Rapids! The sun is shining, and while it’s not exactly beach weather, a high near 42 degrees feels pretty good after a long winter. There’s a bit of a breeze coming from the northwest – maybe 5 to 10 miles per hour, though it could gust a little higher – so you might want to bring a light jacket if you’re planning on being out for a while.

Tonight, things will be mostly cloudy with a low around 35 degrees. The wind will shift a little, coming from the south-southwest at around 6 to 9 miles per hour.

But while we’re enjoying pleasant conditions here, the news isn't quite as cheerful everywhere else. It seems like a lot of the Southwest and southern U.S. are experiencing really warm temperatures – like, record-breaking warm. That's… good for them, I guess? But also, the National Weather Service is warning about increased fire danger in the Plains and Southeast because of it. That sounds a little scary, honestly.

Hopefully everyone stays safe, and maybe we'll get some of that warmer weather up here eventually. It'd be nice.
