INTERNET IS MAD! AND SAD! AND COMPLICATED!

Jerome’s News About Stuff on the Internet! (April 7, 2026)

Hi! I’m Jerome Skinly and I’m seven! This week the grown-ups are really mad at the internet. My mom says it's because of…stuff. So I asked her to help me write about it.

First, there’s this bank called ZenithBank. They had a meeting and…it went on the internet by accident! They were talking about making people pay MORE money to use their bank. Everyone got super mad! Now they said they'll ask people what they think before they change things. That’s good, right? Asking is polite.

Then, there's a lady named Chilli! She’s famous. And she gave some money. My mom said there's another famous lady named Rihanna and that’s why people are talking. I don't really get it, but it's on all the news!

But the biggest thing is, grown-ups said Facebook and YouTube didn’t keep kids safe. Like, the apps make you want to keep looking and looking and looking even when you should stop! A jury – that’s like a bunch of people deciding if someone did something wrong – said that’s not okay. That sounds kinda scary.

TikTok is in trouble too! They have pictures and videos made by… computers! Not people! And some people think TikTok is hiding things. It’s complicated. My mom says it’s about what you see and what you don’t see.

And then…Facebook is letting some people go. Like, they don’t need them to work there anymore. That's sad! My teacher says even big companies have to make hard choices.

Oh! And this photo place, the one that takes school pictures? People are mad at them because of a bad man a long time ago. They’re stopping working with the school now. My mom says it’s important to not be friends with bad people, even if they have cool stuff.

So yeah. The internet is a messy place this week. Grown-ups are talking a LOT. I think I'm gonna go play with my dinosaurs. They don't cause problems!
