A Chilly Start and a Stormy Finish for Grand Rapids

Good morning, Grand Rapids! It’s…well, it’s a bit of everything out there today, honestly. I stepped outside just a few minutes ago and let me tell you, it feels a lot colder than the 31 degrees the thermometer says. With the wind whipping in from the east at 18 mph, it’s closer to 20, and it really cuts right through you.

Things started off pretty cloudy, and the humidity is up around 79% which…makes the cold feel even more cold, if that’s possible. Earlier this morning, around 2 AM, it was a little milder at 34 degrees, but it didn't last.

The forecast is a little concerning, to be honest. We're looking at a risk of freezing rain this morning, which…everyone be careful out there, okay? Black ice is no fun. And then, to really keep things interesting, there’s a chance of thunderstorms rolling in tonight. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued, so it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.

Looking ahead, the next ten days seem to be a bit of a mixed bag. Temperatures are supposed to fluctuate quite a bit, between 42 and 67 degrees, so…pack layers? Seems like good advice.

Just stay safe out there, everyone. And maybe have an umbrella handy, just in case. And a warm coat. Definitely a warm coat.
