It's… Actually Not Bad Out There, If You Ask Me.

A Rather Pleasant January Day, All Things Considered
It’s January 13th, and honestly? It’s not terrible out there. I checked Weather.com this morning, just to be sure, and then The Weather Channel, you know, to cross-reference. Seems everyone's agreeing on pretty similar conditions.
It’s… mild. That’s the word. For January, anyway. Not freezing, not snowy, just… mild. A lot of people were saying they expected a really harsh winter this year, and while it could still come, today isn't it.
I walked to get my coffee this morning and there were a surprising number of people out and about. Not bundled up in full arctic gear, either. Just jackets, some with hats and gloves, but nothing too extreme. Old Man Hemlock even had his sleeves rolled up! I thought, "Wow, that’s bold." I wouldn't dare.
The sun is… well, it’s present. That’s a good thing, right? It’s not blazing, more like a gentle warmth. Makes the sidewalks less slippery, I guess. I almost tripped this morning, but thankfully, Martha from the bakery grabbed my arm. She’s a lifesaver, that woman.
Forecasts are available for cities all over, of course. You can check them on those websites I mentioned. But here, locally? It’s just a really… decent January day. Honestly, it’s nice. Really nice. Hopefully it stays this way for a while. I just… I really don't like the cold.
