Brrr! Grand Rapids Gripped by Chilly Air, Flood Watch Issued – Ape News Report

Grand Rapids, MI – April 6, 2026 – Greetings, fellow primates! H.R. Rambe here, bringing you the latest weather dispatch from Ape News. And let me tell you, it’s a bit nippy out there!

This morning, downtown Grand Rapids is currently under mostly cloudy skies with a temperature of just 35°F. Yes, you read that correctly – thirty-five degrees! It feels more like late February than early April, frankly.

The forecast isn’t exactly encouraging a quick warm-up either. FOX 17 predicts temperatures will wobble between a frosty 32°F and a slightly-less-frosty 45°F throughout the day. Keep your fur…er, coats, handy. There’s a good chance of showers developing this afternoon, according to both FOX 17 and the National Weather Service.

Speaking of the National Weather Service, they’ve issued a Flood Watch, effective from 6:48 AM EDT on April 7th until 8:00 AM EDT on April 9th. Seems all this melting snow and potential rain could lead to some rising water levels. So, keep an eye on those low-lying areas and be careful near rivers and streams.

A 30% chance of showers after 2 PM today means you might want to pack an umbrella – or, in my case, a large, waterproof leaf. Stay warm and dry, everyone, and keep checking Ape News for further updates!
