A Busy Week Ahead: Holidays and Observances to Keep in Mind

Hello everyone, Leo Parks here with a quick look at what’s happening this week and a little further into September! It feels like summer just flew by, but a lot is going on as we head into the fall.

First off, today, September 1st, is Labor Day here in the US – a well-deserved day off for many, and a chance to celebrate the contributions workers make to our communities. It also marks the beginning of Mawlid Un Nabi, an important religious observance. I always appreciate a day to just…relax, you know?

As the week goes on, keep in mind Friday is International Day of Charity. It’s a good reminder that even small acts of kindness can really make a difference. And, a very important day for some of us, it’s National Cheese Pizza Day on Friday too! I’m definitely planning on… enjoying some.

Saturday is National Read a Book Day, which sounds lovely. Honestly, I’ve been meaning to catch up on my reading. It’s always nice to just…disconnect a little, and get lost in a story.

And don’t forget to call your grandparents on Sunday! It's Grandparents Day, and they always appreciate a phone call. My grandma always tells the best stories.

Looking ahead, September is packed with awareness months and days. We’ve got National Preparedness Month, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month – all really important things to remember and support if you can.

There’s a lot going on, and it can be a bit overwhelming, but I think it’s good to just… be aware. And, you know, enjoy the little things. Like cheese pizza.
