A Busy Week Ahead: Holidays and Observances to Keep in Mind
Hello everyone, Leo Parks here! It feels like just yesterday we were ringing in the new year, and now we're already barreling towards April. It's a pretty packed week for holidays and observances, so I wanted to give everyone a quick rundown to make sure we're all aware and respectful.
It all starts today, March 30th. We’re recognizing Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Day in Wyoming, a lovely gesture to thank those who served. It’s also Doctors’ Day – a big thank you to all our healthcare professionals! Alaska is celebrating Seward’s Day, and Delaware and West Virginia are observing Vietnam Veterans Day. So many important recognitions today!
Tomorrow, March 31st, is International Transgender Day of Visibility, a really important day for raising awareness and showing support. Several states – California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as Michigan and Washington – are observing César Chávez Day, honoring the life and work of the labor leader. Arizona will be celebrating Farmworkers Day too.
Things get a little… interesting, on April 1st with April Fool’s Day. Please, everyone, be gentle with your pranks! It's also the beginning of Passover, a very significant holiday for the Jewish community.
April 2nd is another busy one. We have Maundy Thursday for Christians, the continuation of Passover, and World Autism Awareness Day – a United Nations observance. Florida will also be celebrating Pascua Florida Day.
Good Friday is a state holiday in quite a few places on April 3rd – Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Texas, as well as Georgia.
Then comes Holy Saturday on April 4th, followed by the International Day of Conscience and Easter Sunday on April 5th.
Finally, wrapping up the week on April 6th, we have the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, Easter Monday, and National Tartan Day.
It's a lot to keep track of, I know! But it’s wonderful to see so many different cultures and important causes being recognized. Just a friendly reminder to be mindful and respectful of everyone around you as we navigate this busy week.
