Ape News Roundup: Winter Warm-Ups and Somber Notes – January 3rd, 2026
Greetings, fellow apes! H.R. Rambe here, bringing you the latest from the world of gaming, courtesy of Ape News! The new year has barely begun, and already the digital jungle is buzzing with activity.
First, for those of you subscribed to PlayStation Plus, check out the new free games for January. Plenty to keep your thumbs busy during these chilly months! And speaking of busy thumbs, a whole slew of new games are hitting the shelves (or, you know, digital storefronts) this January. Be sure to check the full release schedule – there's a little something for everyone.
Fortnite fans, rejoice! Winterfest 2025 is in full swing with quests and rewards galore. Get those cozy skins ready! If you’re more of a PC ape, the Steam Winter Sale is offering plenty of opportunities to expand your library without emptying your banana hoard. And for the retro-inclined, 8BitDo controllers and Arcade1Up cabinets are currently seeing some fantastic discounts. I, personally, am considering the NBA Jam cabinet… for research purposes, naturally.
For those enjoying physical builds, Lego is having a moment! New and restocked sets themed around Marvel, Batman, Spider-Man, and Harry Potter are flying off the shelves. A good exercise for the fingers, and a visual delight, I assure you.
On the television front, Episode 3 of the Fallout series is now available. Early reports suggest a cheeky nod to Fallout: New Vegas in Episode 2 – a nice touch for us veteran apes. Pokemon Go players, keep your phones charged – January and December events are packed with raids and spotlight hours.
Now, onto some potentially huge news. Rumors are swirling that Call of Duty may finally be making its way to the Nintendo Switch! However, the gaming community mourns the tragic loss of Vince Zampella, a pillar of both the Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises, who recently passed away in a car accident. A somber reminder that even in the digital world, real lives are affected.
Looking ahead, we’re all eagerly anticipating Marvel’s Wolverine and Resident Evil Requiem, both slated for release later this year. And for those with a Nintendo Switch (or thinking of getting one!), a Mario Kart bundle is currently available. Plus, word on the street is you can potentially double the storage with a Samsung MicroSD – a vital upgrade for any serious gamer!
Finally, a quick shout-out to Neuro-Sama, the AI VTuber who recently broke a Twitch world record. The future is now, my friends! And don’t forget to check out the updates and events happening in Grow A Garden.
That’s all for this Ape News report. Stay tuned for more updates, and remember to game responsibly!
