Staying Aware: A Quick Look at Tropical Storms Around the Globe
Hello everyone, it's Leo Parks here with a brief update on what's happening with tropical cyclones around the world. It's always good to be aware, you know, just keep an eye on things, and I figured a quick summary would be helpful.
As of today, thankfully, we haven’t seen any storms impacting populated areas directly. That's certainly a positive! However, there are a few systems we're keeping an eye on.
Over in the Eastern Pacific, we have Tropical Storm Gil currently swirling around. It's located at approximately 13.5 degrees North, 117.2 degrees West, and is moving in a WNW direction with winds around 50 miles per hour.
Moving over to the Western Pacific, we’re observing Tropical Storm Co-May (31.2N 121.4E, NW movement, 40 mph winds) and Tropical Storm Krosa (31.6N 142E, NNW movement, 50 mph winds). These are out in the open ocean, so no immediate concerns for land, but definitely worth monitoring.
In the Central Pacific, we're seeing Tropical Storm Iona (13.2N 170.7W, WNW movement, 50 mph winds), the remnants of Keli (13.9N 156.6W, W movement, 35 mph winds) and Invest 92L (11.4N 147.7W, N/A movement, 30 mph winds). Again, these are all quite a distance from land.
It's good news that things are relatively calm in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean regions right now.
I know a lot of folks find this kind of information a little overwhelming, and it can be, so remember to just check in with the official sources. The National Hurricane Center (https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/) is always a reliable source, and Weather Underground (https://wunderground.com/hurricane) provides a good overview as well. The Canadian Hurricane Center is also a good resource for folks in that area.
It's all about being informed and prepared, and I hope this quick update was helpful. Stay safe everyone!
