The Erosion of Tradition: A Look at the Gaza Situation

Folks, I’ve been following the news coming out of Gaza, and frankly, it’s distressing. Not just the images – and believe me, there are some terrible images – but the way the whole thing is being framed. We're constantly bombarded with narratives of victimhood, and while any loss of life is tragic, we need a dose of realism here.

For generations, this region has been… complicated. Let’s just say that. And complicated doesn't magically resolve itself with calls for “peace” and “understanding” when one side is consistently engaging in actions that frankly, no civilized nation would tolerate. Rockets fired into civilian areas? That’s not a path to peace. It's a declaration of hostility.

Now, I'm not saying everything is black and white. Of course, innocent people are caught in the crossfire, and that’s heartbreaking. But where's the outrage for the Israelis living under the constant threat of attack? They’ve built a successful, modern nation in a very hostile part of the world, and they deserve our support.

What’s truly worrying is the way this is being used back here at home. We’re seeing protests, universities becoming echo chambers of radical thought, and a blatant disregard for historical context. It’s the same old story: America-bashing and a willingness to side with those who don’t share our values.

Some are even suggesting this is all about “colonialism” and “oppression.” That’s a convenient narrative, but it ignores the centuries of Jewish connection to that land, and the legitimate security concerns Israel faces. Let’s not rewrite history to fit a particular ideology.

I fear we're witnessing another example of eroding traditional values. Respect for national sovereignty, support for our allies, and a clear-eyed understanding of the threats we face – these are the principles that have made this country great. And if we abandon them, well, I shudder to think what the future holds. We need to stand strong with Israel, and demand accountability from those who perpetrate violence. It’s time for some common sense, and a return to a more grounded, realistic foreign policy.
