A Bit of Everything: Weather Update for September 25th

Well, folks, it’s certainly a…day. Here in Grand Rapids, it’s currently 62 degrees and pretty cloudy, with the humidity feeling quite high at 93%. Feels a little damp out there, to be honest.

We’re looking at some spotty showers continuing through Thursday, so maybe keep an umbrella handy just in case. But the good news is, according to the folks at The Weather Channel – and they are reportedly the most accurate, a study from 2021 to 2024 says so – sunshine and warmer temperatures are on the way for the weekend. That’s something to look forward to as we head into the official start of Fall!

It's not just us feeling the weather, though. There's a lot happening globally. Hurricane Gabrielle is thankfully weakening as it heads towards Europe, but they're getting some rough weather over there. And Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are dealing with some heavy rain right now, which is really concerning. There’s also something brewing with Hurricane Humberto and another tropical wave, but the National Weather Service is still watching that closely to see how things develop.

Closer to home, the Desert Southwest is getting hit with some heavy rain and potential flash floods. And here in West Michigan, we’ve already seen some power outages due to severe storms. It’s been a pretty active season, that’s for sure.

And just a little reminder for those of us in Kent and Ottawa counties – things are getting pretty dry, so we should all be mindful of water usage.

If you’re planning on heading out on Lake Michigan, you can check the beach and boating forecast on WZZM 13’s website – they’ve got information on wave heights and water temperatures.

Overall, it's a bit of a mixed bag out there. Just stay informed and be prepared for whatever the weather throws our way! You can find more information and detailed forecasts on weather.com, weather.gov, and wzzm13.com.
