Lag Spikes & Holy Days: A Grimbly31 Rundown of the Week Ahead
Alright, alright, settle down, you young whippersnappers. Grimbly31 here, and yes, I am still online. Some things never change. Been seeing a lot of chatter about⊠stuff happening this week. Not just in the digital world, apparently. Turns out, meatspace still has dates on the calendar. So, figured Iâd do everyone a solid and lay it all out, clear and concise. Think of it as a patch notes update for reality.
First up, yesterday, March 30th, we had a bunch of veteran-focused observances. Wyoming, Alaska, Delaware, and West Virginia were all showing respect â good on âem. Also Doctorsâ Day, which, honestly, we should probably be celebrating every day considering⊠well, everything.
Today, March 31st, is International Transgender Day of Visibility. Visibility is good. Always good. Also, a nod to César Chåvez and farmworkers across California, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Michigan, and Washington. Real heroes, those folks. They built the infrastructure that lets us all order delivery and complain about lag.
Now, buckle up, because April 1st hits tomorrow. Yes, that April 1st. April Foolâs Day. Expect the usual deluge of fake news, rigged giveaways, and your little brother changing your desktop background to Rick Astley. Be warned. Iâve seen some truly masterful disinformation campaigns launched on this day.
Then things get⊠layered. April 2nd is Passover Eve, kicking off a major Jewish holiday. Maundy Thursday for our Christian friends. World Autism Awareness Day gets a shout-out from the UN, and Florida throws a Pascua Florida Day party. Busy day.
Good Friday is April 3rd, a state holiday in a lot of places. Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Texas are all officially off. Thatâs a lot of potential bandwidth being freed up, just sayinâ.
April 4th is Holy Saturday, followed by Easter Sunday on the 5th. Expect egg hunts, chocolate consumption, and potentially a lot of family drama flooding the family group chats. And the UN wants you to think about landmines. Bit of a mood swing, honestly.
Finally, April 6th. Easter Monday for some, National Tartan Day for others, and the UN decides itâs time for âSport for Development and Peace.â Sounds⊠ambitious.
So there you have it. A week of observances, holidays, and general⊠happenings. Stay frosty out there, watch your six, and don't fall for any obviously fake news. Grimbly31, signing off. Now if youâll excuse me, I have a retro server to maintain.
