SYSTEM BREACH IMMINENT: GRAND RAPIDS. CHECK YOUR UPS.

Static in the Air, and Not Just the Kind I Remember
Look, I've seen a lot of Aprils. A lot. Back when April meant waiting for 56k to connect so you could download a cracked demo, not… whatever this is. And lemme tell ya, this ain’t a glitch in the matrix, even if it feels like one.
Grand Rapids is currently experiencing what the weather folks are calling "cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny." Sounds innocent enough, right? Don't let the words fool ya. This is the kind of day that hums with potential energy. The kind where the atmosphere feels… loaded.
Right now, it's 44 degrees, feels like 37 with this wind. A brisk 15mph, gusting up to 24. It’s coming straight outta the north, which, historically, meant someone was probably running a rogue weather server out of Sarnia. Probably still do, honestly. But this isn't about digital snowstorms.
No, this is about that 93% humidity clinging to everything. That barometric pressure sitting at 30.00. It's the digital equivalent of a DDOS attack – everything's building, building…
They're predicting showers tonight. Not just any showers, mind you. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2am. Ninety percent chance of precipitation. A tenth to a quarter inch, maybe more if things get spicy.
Spicy is putting it mildly. This isn't just rain, kids. This is a system primed for… interference. Old habits die hard, and when I feel a buildup like this, I automatically start checking for anomalies. Radio frequencies, atmospheric disturbances, weird spikes in the grid. You learn to scan for the signals when you’ve spent decades staring at a CRT.
So enjoy your "gradually becoming mostly sunny" while it lasts. Because when that east wind picks up tonight, and those storms roll in? Something's gonna break. Maybe it’s just a power outage. Maybe… it’s something more.
I’m grabbing my emergency LAN cable and a pot of coffee. Just in case.
