Michigan Weather: Another Attempt to Control You!

A Chill in the Air, But Hope on the Horizon for Grand Rapids
Folks, let me tell you, this Michigan weather is testing our mettle. Stepped outside this morning and it was a brisk 41 degrees – feels like 35 with that sneaky wind coming down from the South at 9 miles an hour. Cloudy, too. Not the kind of day you’d want to be out building a proper fence, that’s for sure. A man needs sunshine to build something that’ll last, and this gray just feels…unsettling.
Now, some folks might complain, but I say a little hardship builds character. Reminds you of simpler times, when you had to rely on your own two hands and a good, heavy coat. We’ve become too soft, relying on these fancy forecasts and heated sidewalks.
But here’s the good news, and it is good news. Seems we're getting a reprieve. The weatherman – a perfectly nice young man, but probably hasn't spent a day doing honest work – is saying we’re looking at mid to upper 50s by Sunday! Finally, a day where a fellow can get out and enjoy God's country without fearing frostbite.
Of course, don’t get too comfortable. Seems like the powers that be want to remind us who’s boss. They're predicting storms by Tuesday. Eighty percent chance of precipitation, they say. Seems excessive, if you ask me. A little rain never hurt anyone, but these constant predictions of doom and gloom…it's just another example of folks trying to scare you into accepting things you wouldn't normally.
The forecast shows a bit of a roller coaster after that. Up and down, a bit of sun, a bit of chill. Standard Michigan, really. Still, it’s enough to give a man pause. This unpredictable weather…it’s a sign of the times, I tell you. A sign of the times.
But for now, we can look forward to a warm Sunday. Maybe get the grill going, invite the family over. Remind ourselves of what truly matters. And maybe, just maybe, start thinking about that fence again. If it doesn’t rain, of course.
