WEATHER CHAOS SIGNALS DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION

A Chill in the Air, a Sign of Times?

Grand Rapids woke up this morning under a blanket of gray, and frankly, it’s a bit unsettling. Forty-three degrees, they say. Forty-three! In April? It feels more like March, or even February, a harsh reminder of the unpredictable nature of… well, everything these days.

I stepped outside to get the paper – a real paper, mind you, not one of those digital things – and the wind near knocked me off my feet. Twelve miles per hour, they claim. Feels like a good twenty to me. And the humidity? Ninety percent! You could cut the air with a knife. A man could catch a cold just thinking about going outside.

Now, the television folks are saying it’s “quiet” today. Quiet? That’s what they want you to think. They say storms are brewing for tomorrow. Brewing! Like some sort of… atmospheric conspiracy. These weather patterns, folks, they’re not natural. Not anymore.

They’re talking about heavy rainfall down south, snow up north. A slow-moving front, they call it. Slow-moving, alright. Slow-moving towards a breakdown of the natural order, that's what it is. We used to have seasons. Reliable seasons. You knew what to expect. Now? It's a mess.

I remember a time when April meant budding trees and the promise of warm weather. Now it’s cloudy skies and a damp chill that seeps into your bones. Makes a man think. Makes a man wonder what’s next.

They say a storm is coming. I say, we’ve been in a storm for quite some time now, and it’s about time we braced ourselves.
