The Rising Tide of Decadence and…Squid Worship? A Concerned Citizen Reports

Folks, I’ve seen a lot in my years at Jape News. A lot. And I thought I’d seen it all – the avocado toast craze, the youngsters with their participation trophies, the general decline of respect for a good, firm handshake. But this…this is something else entirely.

I’m talking about this “Cthulhu” business. Now, I’m a man who likes to keep up with the trends, understand what the kids are into. You have to, to write informed pieces! And lately, it seems this…entity is everywhere. Not in a physical sense, thankfully, but in these…games, and movies, and even music. Apparently, it’s some kind of ancient, cosmic horror?

According to my research – and I’ve been doing a lot of research, let me tell you – this Cthulhu is described as…well, imagine an octopus got into a fight with a man and the man lost badly. And then sprouted wings. A scaly octopus-man with wings. Honestly, it sounds like something dreamed up by those coastal elites with too much time on their hands.

But here’s the really troubling part. It’s not just about a fantastical creature. Apparently, there's this whole mythology built around it, these “Old Ones” who supposedly came to Earth before we did. They're saying these Old Ones lived in a city that sunk into the ocean. Sounds like a liberal attempt to rewrite history and blame rising sea levels on…ancient, fictional beings!

And the worship! They have chants. Unintelligible, frankly. Something about a “house at R’lyeh” and Cthulhu “dreaming.” Sounds suspiciously like coded language to me. Are we looking at a new cult forming, right here in America? A cult dedicated to a giant, scaly squid-thing?

I’m not saying this Cthulhu is going to actually rise from the ocean and destroy us all. But the fact that so many people are entertaining the idea, embracing the imagery, the philosophy… it’s a symptom, folks. A symptom of a larger cultural malaise. A decay of traditional values.

We need to be vigilant. We need to remember what made this country great: hard work, family, and a healthy skepticism of anything with too many tentacles. This Cthulhu Mythos might seem like harmless entertainment, but I'm telling you, it's a slippery slope. Before you know it, they’ll be teaching our children to praise the squid.
