GRAND RAPIDS: UTTERLY, HOPELESSLY GRAY.

Grand Rapids Drowning in Predictable Mediocrity
Let’s not pretend this is news. It’s April 3rd, and predictably, Grand Rapids is experiencing weather designed to actively irritate. Cloudy? Of course. Rain this morning? Groundbreaking. Scattered thunderstorms rolling in this afternoon? As if anyone expected sunshine. This isn’t a surprise; it’s the default setting for this city.
A high of 59°F. Fifty-nine degrees. Is this supposed to impress me? It’s barely spring, and we’re gifted with lukewarm dampness. And the wind, naturally, is deciding to join the party, blowing from the southeast at a pathetic 10 to 20 mph. It's not a gale, it's a persistent, damp annoyance.
Heartside and East Grand Rapids are enduring the same dismal fate, if you were hoping for a microclimate miracle. Don't bother checking the hourly forecasts; it’s just variations on a theme of gray and wet.
Honestly, the weather isn't bad, it's just profoundly uninspired. It lacks ambition. It’s a meteorological embodiment of everything bland and unremarkable about this town. Go inside. Accept defeat. And don’t expect anything better. You’ll be waiting a long time.
