Things Are Happening In Games, It Seems

A Little Bit of Everything, Lately
It feels like there’s just so much happening in gaming these days, doesn’t it? I’ve been trying to keep up, and honestly, it’s a little overwhelming. Let me try and sort through some of it.
First off, it seems like the developers are really listening to players. Battlefield 6 is getting another patch – 1.1.1.0, to be exact – and it sounds like they’re tackling some of the bigger complaints, like weapon bloom and that really annoying sun glare. They’re also trying to make those challenges less…grindy, which is good. Nobody wants to spend all day just unlocking stuff.
Over in the world of Borderlands 4, they fixed a bug where the shields were talking way too much. Apparently, the voice lines were triggering constantly. That sounds…distracting. Glad they got that sorted.
AI is…well, it’s a thing. I saw something about an investor saying AI games are going to be amazing, and they showed off a demo. It didn’t look amazing, to be honest. A lot of people were saying the same thing. EA is using AI tools now, though, so it’s clearly something they’re thinking about.
There’s been a lot of talk about EA lately, actually, with the acquisition by that Saudi-backed firm. The Sims team put out a statement saying they’ll still keep the game a place for self-expression, which is… reassuring. Some content creators are still worried, though, which is understandable.
And then… wow. Halo is coming to PlayStation. I… didn’t see that coming. It's been an Xbox exclusive for so long. A real shift, that is.
On the PC side of things, I’ve been seeing a lot about hardware. Fish tank PC cases? Seriously? People are building computers inside fish tanks. And there are reviews of gaming laptops and those Hall effect keyboards, which sound pretty cool. Guides for the best SSDs and graphics cards too, for those of us trying to stay up to date.
Other games are chugging along, of course. Vermintide 2 and Darktide are still getting updates, and we’re getting closer to The Outer Worlds 2. Pokemon Legends: Z-A is doing really well, selling almost six million copies! And apparently, there were some Wordle clues floating around for a specific date, but I’m not very good at those.
Oh, and there's a bit of a scandal in the chess world, too. Something about a grandmaster’s death? It's all a bit sad, honestly.
It’s just… a lot. I think I need to go play something relaxing now. Maybe Animal Crossing? Or just, you know, stare at a wall for a bit. It's been a busy week for gaming news, that's for sure.
