Things Are… Happening, Which Is Good.

A Quiet Week, Mostly (August 25th, 2025)
It’s… well, it’s been a week. Not a bad week, thankfully. Just… a week. Things haven’t exactly been calm, but it hasn’t been… dramatic, either? Does that make sense?
The biggest thing everyone seems to be talking about is the continued, slow progress on the orbital solar power initiative. They launched another section of the array – Section Gamma, I think? – and it’s reportedly functioning well. They say it’s going to take years before we really see the benefits, but it is good to see them keeping at it. A lot of people were saying it was too ambitious, but maybe, just maybe, they’ll pull it off. I wouldn’t want to say anything negative, you know? It seems like a really important project, and everyone involved seems to be working really hard.
There was a bit of a kerfuffle over in Neo-Kyoto with the automated noodle vendor strikes. Apparently, the vendors felt they weren’t getting enough maintenance and were threatening to… not make noodles? It sounds silly when I say it, but a lot of people rely on those noodles. Thankfully, it seems like the city council and the vendor’s association came to an agreement. Something about revised maintenance schedules and a small price increase? Everyone seems happy enough, and, honestly, that’s what matters, right?
Oh, and the annual Giant Squid Migration started! They’re predicting a good showing this year, which is always nice. It's really something to see, even on the holovids. My neighbor, Mrs. Gable, is a big enthusiast. She told me all about it over the fence yesterday.
That's… pretty much it, I think. Just a lot of small things happening, mostly positive. It's a good week to be alive, I suppose. A quiet week. And sometimes, a quiet week is exactly what we need.
