BIG MONSTER FROM SPACE!

Big Monster! Cthulhu!

Hi! My name is Jerome! I lerned about a really big monster! His name is Cthulhu! It’s a hard name to say. My teacher, Miss Penny, said it’s from a story.

Cthulhu is a monster from space! He’s like… a man, but not! He has an octopus head! Can you imagine? Lots and lots of wiggly feelers! And he’s green and scaly, like a big lizard! He’s got claws, too, like a scary kitty cat! And wings! He can fly! But he’s sleeping mostly.

He lives in a city under the ocean! It’s called R’lyeh! Miss Penny said it’s under the Pacific Ocean. That’s a lot of water! The city comes up sometimes, when the water gets just right. Then everyone can see it! But if you do see Cthulhu, your brain gets hurt! You go crazy! It’s not good.

Some people remember Cthulhu. They are like a club! They make statues of him out of funny stuff, like stone and… other things. They talk to him in their heads! They say a long sentence! It's "Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn." Miss Penny said it means “He’s sleeping in his house!”

Lots of people write stories about Cthulhu now! And they make movies and games! My friend Billy likes the games! He says Cthulhu is the boss!

Cthulhu is very, very scary. But he’s also kinda cool. Just don't look at him! He’s sleeping, so let him sleep!
