SIGNAL LOST. WEATHER PATTERN REPEATING.

Static in the Atmosphere
The rain’s been comin’ down hard all mornin’. Not surprised, though. Feels… right. Like the world’s tryin’ to reset itself, y’know? Reminds me of the old days, when a good thunderstorm could wipe a server farm clean and give everyone a fresh start. Different kinda reset now, of course. Less… digital. More just… wet.
I woke up to the usual grey over Heartside. Forty-one degrees, they say. Feels colder with the wind comin’ off Lake Michigan, though. Fifteen, twenty-five miles an hour, blastin’ from the northeast. Good for powerin’ a small city, that wind. Back in the day, folks used to try and harness it for… other things. Let’s just say bandwidth wasn't always readily available.
They’re sayin’ thunderstorms near the airport. Ford International. Used to spend a lotta time watchin’ planes take off and land there. Less romantic now, with all the scanners and firewalls in the sky, but still… somethin’ about the way they fight against the air.
Ninety percent chance of rain, they’re predictin’ for Heartside. Half an inch, maybe more. Airport’s lookin’ at an eighty-six percent chance, with fog rollin’ in. Adds to the ambience, honestly. Like someone’s tryin’ to hide somethin’.
They say it’ll clear up by two, get up to sixty-four. Doubt it. This feels like a weather pattern that’s gonna linger. Reminds me of a particularly nasty DDoS attack back in '07. Just kept comin', waves of packets, until everything flatlined.
Still, a little rain never hurt anyone. Especially not someone who spent their formative years plugged into a flickering monitor. Makes a good soundtrack for diggin’ through old code. Gives the static a little company. And hey, maybe if enough water gets into the system, we'll get a genuine glitch in the matrix. A guy can dream, right?
