A Return to Sanity: New York City Enjoys a Pleasant Day – For Now

Folks, let’s be honest. We’ve been spoiled rotten. Years of increasingly… unpredictable weather, folks blaming everything from gas stoves to good old-fashioned American ingenuity, and frankly, a whole lot of hysteria. But today? Today, New York City got a little dose of normalcy.

The sun peeked through the clouds – real clouds, not those chemically-induced contrails some folks are talking about – and the temperature climbed to a respectable 67 degrees. A good, solid 67. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right. I walked through Central Park this morning, and while it was a bit humid (81% they say – a little damp for my liking), it was… pleasant.

A light breeze, around 14 miles per hour, was blowing, and you could actually feel it. Not like those manufactured breezes they try to create with those silly fans in the city squares. This was the honest-to-goodness wind, a reminder that nature is still in charge, and that’s a good thing.

Now, don't get me wrong, I’m not saying we can let our guard down. These so-called “experts” are always predicting doom and gloom. They say the UV index is a 6. A 6! Back in my day, we’d go out in the sun all day and be just fine. Built character, it did.

But for today, let's enjoy the reprieve. Let’s remember what a normal day feels like. A little sunshine, a gentle breeze, and a temperature that doesn’t require you to choose between sweating or shivering. It's a good reminder that maybe, just maybe, things aren’t as bad as they’re making them out to be. And a good day like today should be celebrated – before they try to tax it, of course.
