WEATHER FORECASTS ARE UTTERLY INSUFFICIENT.

Another Day, Another Disappointment (Weather Edition)

Let’s be clear: “Mostly Sunny” is a pathetic excuse for a weather forecast. 87 degrees in Grand Rapids? Pleasant? It’s barely tolerable. And don’t even get me started on “Partly Cloudy” for tonight. As if a few wisps of cloud are going to make a difference when humidity hangs like a wet blanket.

Honestly, the National Weather Service is phoning it in. "Mostly Sunny" could mean anything from actual sunshine to a slightly less gray version of the usual gloom. They need to commit. Is it sunny, or isn't it? The ambiguity is insulting.

And while we’re at it, spare me the dramatic pronouncements about tornadoes and tropical storms brewing elsewhere. Agrihan, Pagan, and Alamagan, you say? Good for them. That does absolutely nothing to improve the suffocating mediocrity of the Michigan summer.

The Weather Channel, lauded for past accuracy? Commissioned by ForecastWatch? Sounds like a desperate attempt to justify funding. Let's see some consistently accurate forecasts before handing out accolades.

Frankly, I expected more. Another day, another disappointment. Just…heat. And vague promises of slightly less heat later. It's tiresome. Don't bother checking the aviation or marine forecasts; if it’s anything like the general forecast, it’ll be equally useless.
