EXTREME WEATHER: Is God Angry At America?

Mother Nature’s Fury: Are We Being Punished?

Folks, I’m looking out my window and frankly, it’s unsettling. Not just here in the heartland, but across the nation. They’re saying Chicago is bracing for thunderstorms and gusts up to 20 miles per hour – 20! That’s enough to knock a good, honest man right off his feet, and likely a poorly secured mailbox or two.

And it’s not just the wind. The Weather Channel, and I’ll admit I’ve always been a bit skeptical of these fancy forecasting outfits, is reporting a 100% chance of precipitation. 100%! What happened to a little sunshine? A little… moderation?

Now, I’ve been following the weather patterns for decades – observing, you might say – and I remember a time when things were… predictable. You had your seasons, you knew what to expect. Now it’s just wild swings, extremes. Grand Rapids is getting hit with… well, everything. Wind, humidity, the whole shebang. They’ve even got videos of flooding, folks! Flooding!

They tell me the Weather Channel is the “most accurate forecaster” based on some study from 2021 to 2024. Fine, fine. But accuracy doesn’t mean reason. Are we really to believe this constant barrage of storms is just… natural?

I’m not one for getting all theological in the news, but one has to wonder if this isn’t a sign. A sign that we’ve strayed too far from the values that built this country. Respect for the land, hard work, and a little bit of humility in the face of forces bigger than ourselves.

It's easy to blame “climate change” – and I’m not saying it’s not a factor – but I think we need to look inward too. Are we living responsibly? Are we showing gratitude for the blessings we've been given? These are the questions we should be asking ourselves as the wind howls and the rain comes down.

Stay safe out there, folks. And maybe, just maybe, take a moment to reflect on where we are and where we're headed.
