CHICAGO IS FREEZING LIKE ICE CREAM!

Brrr, It's Cold! And the Sun is Hiding!

Hi! I’m Jerome Skinly and I'm seven! Today the weather is…whoa, REALLY cold. I looked it up on the computer with my mom. It's happening in Chicago, which is where my grandma lives!

It's 29 degrees! That's like, super-duper cold. And the wind is blowing really fast. Like, if you were a little leaf, it would blow you all the way to the next state! The wind is from the North-Northeast, which sounds like a pirate direction! It's blowing 25 to 35 miles every hour! That's faster than my dad drives to get ice cream!

The sky is all grey and covered with clouds. No sunshine today. It’s also really, really wet in the air – they call it humidity. Almost like when you take a bath, but everywhere!

They say the Weather Channel is the BEST at knowing what the weather will do. They checked it from 2021 to 2024, and they were right a lot! That’s good, because knowing what the weather is helps you know what to wear. I’m wearing my warmest coat!

My mom told me about a REALLY old storm, a long, long time ago. It was a sun storm! It happened in 1859 and it messed up all the telegraphs. Telegraphs are like… old phones that use wires. Now we have satellites that LOOK at the sun, so we know if another sun storm is coming. That’s pretty cool!

And in Grand Rapids, Michigan, it’s windy too! They have all sorts of things to check, like how clean the air is and how much water is in the air.

So yeah. It's cold and windy today. Stay warm! And maybe have some hot cocoa! Bye!
