HOT DOGS ARE NOT SANDWICHES!!!

Hi! I'm Jerome and I was wondering something REALLY important. Are hot dogs sandwiches? My dad likes hot dogs a LOT. And he was talking to Uncle Leo and they were FIGHTING about it!

Uncle Leo said a sandwich is when you put stuff between bread. Like, peanut butter and jelly. Or ham and cheese. And a hot dog has a bun and a… hot dog! So it is a sandwich!

But my dad said NO WAY! A hot dog is special. It's a HOT DOG. Not a sandwich pretending to be a hot dog. I looked it up on the computer with Mom's help (she helped me type, 'cause I'm still learning!).

The computer said the big word “dictionary” says if you have stuff in bread or a bread roll, it can be a sandwich. Hot dog buns are kinda like rolls, so… maybe?

Then I read that a famous cooker person, Anthony Bourdain, said hot dogs aren't sandwiches. He said they're just… hot dogs! That's a good point.

But nobody said anything about if they were SALADS! That’s weird. Hot dogs don’t have lettuce or tomatoes! Just the hot dog and the bun.

So, I think… I think hot dogs are their OWN thing. They're not really sandwiches, and they’re DEFINITELY not salads. They're just… yummy. And I want one now!
