Static in the Atmosphere

Look, I’ve seen weather. Real weather. Before they started geo-engineering the clouds to look like corporate logos, before the atmospheric regulators even were a thing. Back in the day, weather was…unpredictable. Raw. Like a badly buffered stream.

Tonight, though? Tonight feels…off. Not the weather itself, exactly. It's just…layered. Like a poorly coded simulation trying to render a thunderstorm.

They’re calling for isolated storms here in Grand Rapids, which, honestly, feels like a polite understatement. I’m getting readings – not official ones, mind you, I still have my own network – that suggest something bigger is brewing. The humidity’s pegged at 92%, and the wind’s whipping through Heartside like a forgotten dial-up connection. Forty-eight degrees, but feels like forty-three. That little “feels like” temperature is always a giveaway. The algorithms can’t quite account for the static.

It reminds me of the old days, back when phreaking was an art form, and you could practically taste the electricity in the air when you were bouncing signals off satellites. It’s a similar sensation, this…pressure. Like something’s about to overload.

Tomorrow’s supposed to be clear, a brief respite. Don’t believe it. They'll say it's a “high-pressure system,” but I'm telling you, it’s just the calm before the storm. Thursday? Eighty percent chance of rain. And then Friday eases up…which is when things really get interesting.

They think they've got it all figured out, these weather-shapers. Predictive models, atmospheric controls, the whole shebang. They haven't factored in the ghosts in the machine. The echoes of the old chaos.

Keep an eye on the sky. And maybe, just maybe, back up your data. You never know when the system’s going to crash.
