Excessive "Awareness" Days Threaten To Bury Tradition!

A Week of… Well, a Lot, Actually

Folks, it’s March 31st, 2026, and let me tell you, the calendar is packed. Seems like every day is dedicated to… something. And frankly, some of this “something” feels a little… much, if you ask me. But a Peabody promises to report, not judge! (Mostly.)

First up, we’ve got April 1st looming – that’s right, April Fool’s Day. A good, old-fashioned day for a bit of harmless fun. Though, honestly, these days you can't trust anyone to know what’s a joke and what isn’t. Seems like half the news is a prank already. Still, I appreciate a good chuckle.

Now, right alongside that, we’ve got something called “International Transgender Day of Visibility.” Look, I’m a simple man. I believe in respecting everyone, of course. But we seem to be making a holiday out of everything these days. A person is who they are, and that’s that. No need for a special day to… be visible. Seems redundant.

Then there’s César Chávez Day, mainly out west. A man who worked hard, I’ll grant you that. Championed farm workers. Good for him. But frankly, shouldn't we be celebrating all hard work, not just one person’s? Feels a bit selective if you ask me. And National Burrito Day? Honestly? A day dedicated to a wrapped-up meal? This is where we draw the line, people.

Moving on to Thursday, April 2nd, we have Maundy Thursday, a significant religious observance. That’s good, solid tradition. I can get behind that. Also, apparently, it's National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. Well, who doesn't like a PB&J? A classic American staple. And National Farm Workers Day – another nod to agricultural folks. See, there’s the work ethic I’m talking about!

Friday brings us Good Friday, a deeply important day for Christians. A time for reflection and remembrance. Very important. Though, then we have “World Party Day.” Honestly? A day dedicated to… parties? Seems a little irresponsible, considering everything going on in the world.

And finally, on Saturday, we have National Picky Eaters Day. Picky Eaters? Are you kidding me? Back in my day, you ate what was put in front of you and you were grateful for it! This generation…

Anyway. There you have it. A week full of celebrations, observances, and frankly, a little bit of nonsense. Just a reminder to keep your wits about you, folks, and remember what truly matters. And maybe lay off the burritos.
