SYSTEM WEATHER FAULT. PREPARE FOR REBOOT.

Static in the Atmosphere, Static in the System
Look, I've seen weather. Real weather. Before they started geo-engineering the clouds to look like corporate logos, before every drizzle was âenhanced for your viewing pleasure.â Back in the day, weather was justâŠweather. Unpredictable, messy, and occasionally tried to fry your modem if you werenât careful with grounding.
Today in Grand Rapids feelsâŠoff. Not just the 60% chance of getting soaked, though thatâs annoying. Itâs how itâs wet. I checked the feeds â Ford Airportâs reporting fog thick enough you could cut with a knife, humidity near 100%, and a wind that's less "breeze" and more "someone's testing a really big fan." Forty degrees Fahrenheit, they say. Feels colder. Like the air is actively draining heat.
They're predicting showers all afternoon, escalating into proper thunderstorms tonight. Ninety percent chance of rain, theyâre saying. Honestly, with humidity like that, Iâm surprised the servers haven't started spontaneously combusting. Remember the Great DC Power Surge of â98? Similar conditions. Spent three days rebuilding my rig after that. Good times. Mostly.
The extended forecast is just depressing. A brief glimmer of almost-sunshine on Friday, then back to the grey. Saturdayâs looking like a full-on deluge, and theyâre threatening frost by Saturday night. Frost. In April. Someoneâs messing with the algorithms, Iâm telling you.
Itâs not the rain I mind, see. Itâs the static. The feeling that somethingâsâŠwrong. Like the atmosphere isnât just unsettled, but actively resisting. Maybe itâs just me, a relic of a bygone digital age. Raised on BBS boards and packet sniffing, my senses maybe a little too attuned to fluctuations in the electromagnetic spectrum.
But trust me on this one. Keep your backups updated, your power strips grounded, and your signal boosters primed. This isnât just a weather report. It's a warning.
