CLOWNS ARE OLD AND SOMETIMES SCARY BUT I LIKE BALLOONS

Okay so, my teacher Ms. Davis said we had to write about something. I picked clowns! Because they are funny! But also… kinda spooky?

My mom said clowns have been around for a REALLY long time. Like, before even Grandma was born! She said they started with people in Greece who painted their faces white so everyone could SEE them when they were telling jokes. That sounds kinda smart.

Then there was this guy named Harlequin. He wore colorful clothes and a mask. He was like… a silly helper? And then there was Punch! He was a puppet and sometimes he was MEAN. My mom said that's weird for a clown, but old clowns were different.

A long time ago, there was a clown named Joey. He was the FIRST modern clown! He painted his face white and did funny stuff. That sounds like a GOOD clown.

Then came sad clowns! Like, really, really sad. One was called Weary Willie. He looked like he needed a hug. But then there were HAPPY clowns on TV! Like Ronald McDonald! I like his fries. And Bozo! He was REALLY colorful.

But… sometimes clowns are scary. There was a bad man who dressed like a clown and did bad things. And there’s a book about a scary clown named Pennywise. My big brother says it’s REALLY scary and I’m not allowed to read it.

So clowns are old and sometimes happy, sometimes sad, and sometimes…scary. I still like them though. Especially with balloons!
