Why Don't I Have a Robot to Help With My Homework?

Today I was thinking, why doesn't everyone have a giant robot? Like, a REALLY big one! It would be SO cool. It could help me build with my LEGOs, and maybe even do my homework (but probably not the math, that's tricky).

But my mom said it's not that easy. She read some stuff on the computer and told me grown-ups already have robots that are good at stuff. Like, little robots that can do one thing really good. Not like a giant robot that could do EVERYTHING.

She said big robots aren't very good at most things. Like, if you wanted to knock down a building, a big robot could do it! But a tank could do that too, and a tank doesn't have to be so… tall. And tanks don’t fall over as much, probably.

There was a man named Ken Goldberg who said robots need to be better at using their hands. He said they need to be more…dexterous? That means good at picking things up. Like, I'm good at picking up LEGOs, but robots aren't so good yet.

Someone even wrote on the computer (my mom showed me!) that people were still talking about giant robots last year! They want them too! But it's hard to make a robot that’s big and good at stuff.

So, maybe one day I'll have a robot helper. But right now, I still have to clean my room myself. It’s not fair! But maybe a little robot could help with that… I'll ask my mom.
