Crows are Neat! By Jerome Skinly
Hi! I’m Jerome and I learned about crows today! They are black birds and they are everywhere! Not in South America though, my teacher said. That’s kinda far.
Crows are kinda like ravens but smaller and their beaks aren't as thick. There's American crows here, and other crows in Europe and Asia! That’s a LOT of crows!
They eat EVERYTHING. Seeds, bugs, yummy fruit, and stuff that… well, died. My mom says that’s kinda gross, but it’s how they get food! They even eat other birds’ eggs! That sounds sneaky.
But the coolest thing is they’re REALLY smart. Like, really smart. They can copy sounds! Like, if you say “hello” they might say it back! And they can COUNT! I’m still learning to count, but a crow can already do it! They even use sticks to get food! That’s like using a spoon!
Crows hang out with their families and stick together. They share food and protect their space. In the winter, lots and lots of crows sleep together to stay warm. That sounds cozy.
My teacher said some crows live a LONG time. Like, longer than my grandma! Maybe even longer than two grandmas! That’s amazing. I think crows are pretty neat birds.
